Key policy details.
Container limited warranties
Northern provides a 10-year structural warranty against failure of the supplied frame or original structural welds, a 1-year manufacturing warranty for covered workmanship and material defects, and a 2-year paint warranty against covered peeling or excessive fading. Coverage begins on the documented delivery date and applies to the original purchaser.
Coverage periods by component
Coverage runs from the documented delivery date: the load-bearing steel frame and original structural welds for 10 years; roof and exterior panel seal integrity for 2 years; the factory coating for 2 years; doors, windows, hinges and supplied hardware for 1 year; electrical and plumbing installed by Northern or its verified suppliers for 1 year; and general workmanship or material defects for 1 year. Each period applies to defects in manufacturing or fabrication under normal use and normal operating conditions.
What the container warranty covers
The structural warranty addresses covered failure of the original load-bearing frame and welds under normal intended use. The manufacturing warranty addresses covered defects in Northern-supplied workmanship or materials. The paint warranty addresses qualifying coating failure and does not cover ordinary color change, surface weathering or damage from impacts and scratches.
Converted units & installed equipment
Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, hot water, appliance and control components follow the separate warranty supplied for each component or installation scope. Their duration and service procedure may differ from the building shell. The accepted order and warranty documents identify what is included.
Flat-pack kits & self-assembly
A kit warranty covers the supplied components, not the assembly. Work carried out on site, and any damage caused during it, sits outside the component warranty, as does a defect traced to the way the components were put together. Follow the supplied storage, assembly and maintenance requirements, and obtain warranty service instructions before arranging repairs or modifications.
Used, refurbished & as-is equipment
Existing wear, cosmetic variation and defects disclosed in the order or condition report are not warranty defects. Any warranty for used or refurbished equipment must be stated in the accepted order. Equipment expressly sold as-is has no voluntary condition warranty beyond rights that cannot be excluded by law.
General exclusions
Coverage excludes improper foundations or site preparation; ground movement; overloading; misuse; accidents; corrosion caused by chemicals, salt or unrepaired coating damage; unauthorized modification or repair; third-party installation; lack of maintenance; normal wear; cosmetic aging; and damage from storms, flooding, fire, seismic events or other external causes.
Requesting warranty service
Email sales@northerncontainersllc.com with the order reference, product and serial number where applicable, delivery date, detailed description, photos and service records. Stop using equipment if continued operation could cause damage. Obtain written instructions before arranging repairs, transport or modification that you expect Northern to cover.
Available remedies
After inspection, Northern may repair a covered defect, provide a replacement part or comparable product, or refund the affected product amount, as appropriate. The warranty does not cover lost use, lost income, removal, installation, site work or unauthorized freight unless the written coverage expressly includes it.
How a claim is assessed
A claim needs the order reference, proof of purchase, a written description of the fault and clear photographs showing the defect and its location on the unit. Northern responds within 5 business days of receiving a complete submission. Depending on the defect, site access and safety, the remedy may be a field repair through an approved service provider, replacement parts shipped with fitting guidance, or a repair credit for a non-critical issue.
Who the warranty covers
The warranty applies to the original purchaser at the delivery address on the order and is not transferable. Relocating, reselling or altering a unit without written approval ends the coverage, as does repair work carried out by an unapproved contractor.
Warranty, returns & refunds
A manufacturing defect is handled under this warranty policy, not as a return. Change-of-mind, cancellation and refund requests follow the returns & refund policy, which has its own timeframes and conditions. If you are unsure which applies, send the order reference and photos and Northern will confirm the route before you arrange anything.
